- 5. God’s love is much deeper
God’s love is much deeper than any offence
A wellspring of blessing so vast and immense
It springs from the Father through Jesus His Son
And comes by the Spirit to those He has won!
A serpent beguiled our first parents in pride
God likeness was tempting, their God they denied!
They ate of the fruit of good and evil
The garden became a place of upheaval
Parading themselves in pride and in glory
Their hearts became hard, a self-centred story
But God is so good, His heart is so tender
He sent us His Son to show us His splendour!
God’s love suffers long and can only be kind
Endures all things for the loved one to find
It isn’t provoked, or remembers a wrong
But overcomes evil with goodness so strong!
Raised high on a cross for the whole world to see
An innocent Lamb hung there bleeding for me
Rejection so cruel it was sharper than nails
But out flows a love that forever prevails!
“Forgive them!” He cried as He died in our place
The judgement “is finished!”, I open your grace!
For by grace we are saved, through faith in God’s Son
It’s not by our works, for the free gift has come!
So open your hearts, and let this grace rush in.
The saving power of forgiveness begin:
“Forgive me Lord Jesus, I turn from my sin
Oh, come Holy Spirit and reign now within!”
And the Kingdom of God, will flood your own soul
With peace that abides and a love in control
No more is there striving or straining to please
For acceptance brings joy that gives and receives!
Abiding in the love of our bridegroom King
In a union so sweet, we worship and sing!
Our hearts open wide as a flower of praise
In a garden of beauty with endless days!
