Praying on the 15th of July 2006, I sensed God saying he is “pure Father” i.e. God the Father is wholly Father because he has never been a Son. Therefore, he has no antecedent corrupting influences of fathering, unlike us.
The Father is agennetos – unbegotten. “yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist” (1 Cor 8:6). [agennetos, literally means "ingenerate", this is what the Son does not share with the Father, agenetos, is, "unoriginated", or "self-existent"].
The whole of his person is Fatherhood.
God speaks, to me, and humanity, because he is completely a Father in his Word.
He is not a black, white, yellow, brown, red etc. Father, but the Father of us all “one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”(Eph 4:6), ““‘For we are indeed his offspring.’”(Acts 17:28) and the Father of spirits “Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?”(Heb 12:9) His fathering is not through a particular form of (his) flesh.
This is most fully revealed in the cross. Mark 15:34 is about the Fatherlessness of God. Jesus enters into the most Australians of experiences viz. of a distant, absent etc. father = “bastard experience” where there is no true discipline “If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.”(Heb 12:8) cf. “Something that God has shown me recently is an answer to one of the reasons why I have felt a bit like an orphan all my life, and struggled with feeling “worth” anything. Hebrews 12:7-9… it is God’s discipline that proves that I am His LEGITIMATE child… if I am not disciplined then I am illegitimate, after all whoever heard of a child who was never disciplined?! And yet this is the case with so many of this generation, (“Super Nanny” is a controversial revolution because discipline has become so out of fashion), as it was with me – my only discipline was in regard to being polite in public. And so there is a feeling of worthlessness, shame, and of not belonging, which I am sure is not unique to my situation.”
The death of God’s Fatherhood in the bearing of sin in the cross is the destruction of all false images of fatherhood across all races and cultures.
You can never discover in any image of your own father (personal, racial, national) what can be discovered in God the Father of the cross. The cross reveals the opposite of the experience of Jesus, that God is an indefectible Father!
In Australia, men have defected their fatherhood to women/mothers, work, sport etc.
