Global Day of Prayer (GDOP) 2007 Encouragement and Exhortation

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This is what I believe the Lord was saying to me through the GDOP yesterday, I have tried to put it down as it came.

1. There is no rebuke in relation to the event.  (If I sensed otherwise I would say so!)

2. The Holy Spirit is moving to “book end” history, as the current era of grace and salvation begun so it must end.  He is saying, “Back to Jerusalem”, and I believe this means a global Pentecost.  As there was one message in manytongues concerning the “mighty works of God” (Acts 2:11) to “all the nations under heaven” (Acts 2:5)on the first Pentecost so this is to be repeated in our day.  Though there were 120 believers speaking at Pentecost, they were all able to speak the same message because they had one heart (Acts 2:14)  (Jesus said, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45).

3. Perth, WA, Australia has a special role in this movement.  The nations from around the world have been gathered to us for this purpose.  (Remember, Pentecost was initially a harvest festival; through the outpouring of the Spirit it became a harvest of souls.)  The joy effected at the first Pentecost will be climaxed at the global Pentecost, because the joy of universal reconciliation (2 Cor 5:19) is the strength for global mission.

I was reminded of an image from the Lord I received last year – I saw multi-coloured streams of people flowing out of the city of Perth.  I knew it meant multicultural teams being sent out on mission.

4. Can Australia be at the spearhead of this second Pentecost?  Yes – the natural precedes the spiritual (1 Cor 15:46).  Natural prosperity is for spiritual prosperity, the multicultural many -tongued nature of the society is for a spirituality of unity in Christ that combines all the languages of the world.  (Remember the Smith Wigglesworth prophecy about WA as the launch/centre for a global move of God.)  Jesus has brought the nations to Australia for this missional purpose.

5. The Lord is cracking the exterior of the earthen vessels so his treasure within his people is exposed (2 Cor 4:7).  That is, as he breaks open the layers of perception to do with race, culture etc., what are being exposed are the (godly) thoughts and intentions of the heart (Heb 4:12).  What is emerging is a unity of one heart for God.  (This is a participation in the brokenness of the cross e.g. Mark 15:34.)

6. The issue of reconciliation with indigenous peoples has a foundational role in relation to this process, because in our land, the perception of their outward appearance (poverty, crime, unemployment, substance abuse) compared to the inner part is most striking (1 Sam 16:7).

7. There needs to be a new level of intentionality with respect to the missionary trajectory of the church in Perth into the nations in the purposes of God.  It is important that the GDOP team meet in the near future, if this is delayed for some months the impetus of the momentum of God will dissipate.
