The Spirit of Adoption

New Life City Church Commissioning, 14.08.2010

  1. Already consider NLCC a part of the church in Belmont just as much as any other congregation.
  2. Been involved e.g. in MPB, LINC (Love In the Name of Christ) volunteers from combined churches doing works of service in the community, hosted the night of welcome and prayer for councillors/mayor after city  elections last year, part of ministers fellowship, planning for a major conference for 2011 and so on.
  3. Like to think that amongst the pastors Yatwan is already one of our mates, standing with us in prayer and care for this city.
  4. Asked Lord for a word for today, and when I sensed “the spirit of adoption”, my mind went to my sister’s family – 6 children, 5 adopted, one Australian born, 1 from Vietnam, one from Sri Lanka, 2 Chinese. However multicoloured the family they function as one family under one family name.
  5. This is the challenge and promise for the church in Belmont, Paul prays with a consciousness that is very deep, he says “14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named” (Eph 3:14-15). The apostle understands that when the people of God in all their cultures and colours image in unified love the one Fatherhood of God brought to us through Jesus, something extremely powerful happens in the spiritual realm. The principalities and powers who do not know the joy of family life lose their hold to sow depression and hopelessness over the city.
  6. On this account, on behalf of the Belmont Ministers Fellowship I extend a warm welcome and the right hand of mateship to the leadership and people of New Life City Church.
